Product Review: Avila Frankicense essential oil + 3 Things to know when using essential oils.

Avila is an African Skincare brand that houses a range of organic skincare products that work wonders for all skin types. This brand stocks soaps to essential oils for aromatherapy, skin repair and enhancement products. The Avila Frankincense oil is among the range of essential oils available.

Essential Oils are extracted by distillation and are gotten from base plants to capture their beneficial properties, flavors and scents. They are popularly used for Aromatherapy (alternative medicine that applies the use of aromatic plant oils/essential oils for improving psychological or physical well being) and have also been recommended for skincare and hair care.

The Avila Frankincense essential oil is used in aromatherapy and can offer a variety of health benefits but it is also used in skin care because of its healing properties. This is the reason why my sister recommended it to me when I was obsessing about the stubborn annoying white patches on the left side of my face that I was battling with for months. Towards the end of last year my skin went to shit because of stress, less than favorable living conditions and weather changes. This birthed a series of skin breakouts and this annoying white patches that sat on the left side of my face and refused to leave. At first I thought it was eczema because of the living condition I had to go through at the NYSC orientation camp but alas it wasn’t because I used eczema remedies on it and it didn’t work.

I would stare at it all day and feel Arghhhhhhh! It was so annoying that I had to keep full hair to cover it. I tried everything trust me because I love my skin perfect and glowing especially since I don’t wear makeup regularly due to the hotness of my country. Even makeup couldn’t cover and it was beginning to frustrate me. Well until my sister Annie who runs an online beauty and body store found a solution to my problem in the form of the Avila Frankincense Essential oil.

My experience using the Frankincense Essential Oil.

I started using the Frankincense Essential oil almost immediately after my sister gave it to me. The aroma was lovely, it is very smooth and very soothing to the skin after my first day using it and I totally saw why it is used in aromatherapy. I rubbed it every night before bed and although I was very inconsistent with it, the result surprised me. I noticed it started fading slowly week after my first week of use and faded more in subsequent weeks. Right now, I am white patch free and my skin is even all thanks to this essential oil and it’s skin repairing properties.

The Avila Frankincense essential oil is anti-inflammatory, anti-acne, anti-aging, antibacterial, anti-scarring and astringent properties that makes your skin glow. It can be used to help reduce acne blemishes, scars and the appearance of large pores. It also has natural lightening properties to slow signs of aging and also prevent wrinkles.

Now, I have been reading and hearing about the wonders of easentail oils for a while but until I used this frankincense oil I never tried believed it.

How to apply Essential oils on your skin.

Alot of us haven’t used essential oils before and for those that would want to try it out here are some things to keep in mind when applying it to your skin.

Firstly, always do a patch test ie. take little and test it on a small part of your skin to ensure that you do not react to it.

Secondly, always use a carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba oils to help dilute essential oils especially for those very potent essential oils that may react with your skin negativity if used directly.

Lastly, always do well to buy pure essential oils derived from the right processes. You do NOT want to make the mistake to using badly processed oils for the health and safety of your skin.

The Avila Frankincense essential Oil healed my patched up skin and gave me back my glow. I definitely will be trying more of this brands products and will be trying out different types of essential oils in the near future. Note my skin is combination skin type and is super sensitive. It is also recommended for people with different skin types. What’s your skin type and have you ever used essential oils before? If yes what was your experience? Leave your comments below. Until next time. Love D. A

  1. I’ve been hearing a whole lot about this Avila product especially their oil. Looks like it’s about time i give it a shot. I’ve been using carrot oil on my skin so far and it’s been okay, except that I have gotten a shade darker.
