Solo traveling across Africa as a young woman in her 20s is a tad challenging and for someone who is determined to travel, I decided to start with places I am some what familiar with.

Location: IITA is located in the ancient city of Ibadan, Nigeria Africa. Due to the city’s reputation for being old and secluded finding this gem was quite surprising.
Little Background of IITA : IITA which atsnads for The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a non-profit institution
that generates agricultural innovations aimed at meeting Africa’s most pressing challenges of hunger, malnutrition, poverty, and natural resource degradation working with various partners across sub-Saharan Africa.

The Resort Hotel at IITA is called International house located within the IITA compound. It is very easy to locate as IITA is fairly popular within Ibadan.
Prices : Like most resorts and hotels they have their daily and weekend rates which slightly differ from one another. They also have a variety of rooms which I love. Because you can certainly get something within your budget rate. Whatever your budget may be.

Key things to Note:
1. To gain access to the Hotel resort you have to have booked ahead and have your reservation confirmed. Without this you won’t be allowed access into the resort. The official email to book is iita-reservations@cgiar.org calling their line to book my be futile but don’t wait for them to contact you for reservation confirmation. Call them to attention them to your email and send another email to keep an email thread with them necessary.
2. If you hope to visit the Lake which is very much a beautiful place to visit, you have to prebook a car transfer to that area. No you won’t be able to just go or walk there.
3. Breakfast is served Buffet style from 7 am to like 10 am so if you’re a deep sleeper you may miss breakfast.
4. Other amenities like gym or tour will attract an extra fee of about N2500 – N4000.
